Auction Review 2010

It was always to be expected that 2010 would be an interesting year for sales of property and with the change of Government and a mid-year Budget, we certainly were not let down!

It is fair to say that within the ‘Border’ areas, we do not always see the same market as that talked about by the “national experts”. The reality for the Team here at John Amos & Co is that there has been movement in the property scene throughout the year. Even in October, when a number of agents were starting to think it was time to switch the lights off ready for Christmas, we actually experienced eight property sale completions in one week which in fact is a record number for the Company. Even now coming to the end of November, there is still plenty of activity and a good number of agreed sales progressing nicely to completion.

John Amos & Co has already remained at the forefront for the sales of property and land by Auction, in the region and I am pleased to report that throughout 2010, we have still seen our Auctions consistently supported by vendors and buyers.

Due to the tight market, we did see less Lots actually sold under the hammer on the night, but as we look back across the year, the majority of Lots that came for sale through the Auction process have sold shortly afterwards.

As expected, land Lots continue to attract a great amount of interest. Whatever size, demand seems to outstrip supply on every occasion.

We are now looking forward to a busy Auction year in 2011 and early indications for the first sale of the year on the 3rd February 2011 look like being in excess of 10 Lots getting us off to a good start. The Auction process continues to have a place in the sales of property and land both for buyers and sellers and we look forward to continued success next year.
