Land and Property Auctioneers, Cobb Amos and John Amos & Co had plenty to be pleased about at their inaugural City Property Auction in Hereford on Thursday, 15th May 2014.
The new venue at Hereford Rowing Club, chosen to complement their already established centre at Luctonians Sports Club, proved to be a roaring success.
The Auction room was packed with potential buyers and very much standing room only.
Highlights of the sale included the first lot of the evening, a 7.75 acre smallholding near Wellington offered on behalf of Herefordshire Council. The property had attracted a vast amount of interest and a number of bidders competed strongly for the lot. The bidding started at £300,000 and quickly passed the guide of £350,000. With several bidders still competing, the smallholding finally sold for the excellent price of £480,000.
A semi-detached cottage near Weobley also caught the eye, being sold for a deceased estate. The property which was in need of complete renovation soon passed the guide of £80,000, eventually settling at a very satisfactory £110,000.
Just when it felt it could not get any better, Brockton Stores, near Bishops Castle was offered for sale upon instructions of the Receivers. This former potato storage and grading facility made a slow start, crawling to the guide of £200,000 and then exploded into competitive bidding and eventually sold for £425,000!
Auctioneer John Amos commented after
“We are delighted to break the million pound barrier again, The Auction goes from strength to strength. As always smallholdings are keenly sought after, but many other interesting lots benefited from competitive bidding.” |
